Green Drinks, Green Tea Weight Loss & Whiter Teeth

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Today, a lot of people are spending more money just to have their teeth whiter. They make use of the best teeth whitening treatments and undergo procedures to achieve the brilliant white teeth. Teeth whitening had been an effective procedure to lighten the color of the teeth, without taking away any of the tooth surface. It will not completely whiten the whole set of teeth; it will just lighten the existing color of the teeth. Only a few are blessed with pearly white teeth, and our teeth normally become discolored as we grow up.
Our teeth can also be stained on the outer part because of the food and drink. Coffee, tea, blackcurrant and red wine have effect on the discoloration of our teeth.

Another thing that can have an effect on the colour of our teeth is that of drinking green drinks as we see that those who are on a green tea diet may experience. Just as we care how we look from the perspective of having white teeth – we also look to control our weight and living on a green tea diet is one way that people have chosen to adopt as a way of life.

Another lifestyle choice is that of the pH miracle diet and that of consuming green drinks which is one of the most revolutionary diets to grow in popularity in the past few years. The eating principles of the diet (vegetarian, organic foods) are not new, but the addition of the “pH factor” is definitely something that has not been readily seen in the world of nutrition. The acid/alkaline balance of our bodies is something that many people have never heard of, although the concepts have been part of Chinese medicine for thousands of years.

The Significance of Search Engines

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

It is the search engines that finally bring your website to the notice of the prospective customers. When a topic is typed for search, nearly instantly, the search engine will sift through the millions of pages it has indexed about and present you with ones that match your topic. The searched matches are also ranked, so that the most relevant ones come first.

Remember that a prospective customer will probably only look at the first 2-3 listings in the search results. So it does matter where your website appears in the search engine ranking.

Further, they all use one of the top 6-7 search engines and these search engines attract more visitors to websites than anything else. So finally it all depends on which search engines the customers use and how they rank your site.

Search Engine Blogs tell it’s the Keywords that play an important role than any expensive online or offline advertising of your website.

It is found by surveys that a when customers want to find a website for information or to buy a product or service, they find their site in one of the following ways:

- The first option is they find their site through a search engine.

- Secondly they find their site by clicking on a link from another website or page that relates to the topic in which they are interested.

- Occasionally, they find a site by hearing about it from a friend or reading in an article.

Thus it’s obvious the the most popular way to find a site, by search engine, represents more than 90% of online users. In other words, only 10% of the people looking for a website will use methods other than search engines.

All search engines employ a ranking algorithm and one of the main rules in a ranking algorithm is to check the location and frequency of keywords on a web page. Don’t forget that algorithms also give weightage to link population (number of web pages linking to your site). When performed by a qualified, search engine optimisation consultant, your site for high search engine rankings really does work, unless you have a lot of money and can afford to pay the expert. With better knowledge of search engines and how they work, you can also do it on your own.

Using Referrer Logs

Referrer logging is used to allow web servers and websites to identify where people are visiting them either for promotional or security purposes. You can find out which search engine they used to find your site and whether your customer has come from a linked site. It is basically the URL of the previous webpage from which your link was followed.

By default, most hosting accounts don’t include referrer logs but may be subscribed for an extra monthly fee. If your web host does not provide a graphic report of your log files, you can still view the referrer logs for your website by logging into the host server using free or low-cost FTP software, like FTP Explorer, SmartFTP or FTP Voyager.

The log file is available on your web server which can be download into your computer later. You can use a log analysis tool, like those Webalizer or AWStats to create a graphic report from your log files so that the files are easier to understand.

This information is very crucial to your business and marketing plans and is not advisable to neglect it.

In addition to identifying the search engine or linked site from where your visitor arrived, referrer logs can also tell you what keywords or keyword phrases your client used for searching.

As referrer information can sometimes violate privacy, some browsers allow the user to disable the sending of referrer information. Proxy and Firewall software can also filter out referrer information, to avoid leaking the location of private websites. This can result in other problems, as some servers block parts of their site to browsers that don’t send the right referrer information, in an attempt to prevent deep linking or unauthorized use of bandwidth. Some proxy software gives the top-level address of the target site itself as the referrer, which prevents these problems and still not divulging the user’s last visited site.

Since the referrer can easily be spoofed or faked like photoshop image editing, however, it is of limited use in this regard except on a casual basis.

3 Most Dangerous Myths About Searching for Public Records Online

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

Lots of people would have us believe that conducting a reasonably comprehensive or especially free people search is a piece of cake. However, that would only be one of the three most dangerous myths about online public records floating around today. To begin with, (1) the availability of online public records is not as widespread as one might think. According to our research:

- Only 35% of public records can be found online;
- Nearly all/ every “free” government public record website contains no personal identifiers, i.e., for privacy purposes, they provide summarized information rather than information about specific individuals.

The federal, state, and local agencies that maintain public records systems make substantial efforts to limit the disclosure of Social Security numbers, phone numbers, and addresses. Some even go so far as to limit the use of the dates of birth. The Social Security number is no longer the “key search tool identifier” it was in the 1980s and early 1990s. Websites with open record searching available to the public generally require only a name, unless a specific case file or docket number or registration number, et cetera, can be substituted.

(2) Government agencies that offer online access on a fee or subscription basis generally disclose partial personal identifiers. Nowadays, very few give Social Security numbers, and those that do often cloak or mask the first five digits. Some cloak the month and date of birth, and only reveal the year of birth. For example, most U.S. District Court and bankruptcy court online systems reveal no personal identifiers on their search results, thus making a reliable “name search” nearly impossible (I’ve tried).

We point this out because the lack of identifiers presents a real problem for employers or financial institutions who, at the same time, are legally required to exert a certain amount of “due diligence” in the process of making certain decisions. The existence of any possible adverse information may have to be double-checked by a hands-on search to ensure the proper match of a given subject to a given adverse record.

Also, we noticed that many governmental websites offering online record access tend to include a warning or disclosure stating that their information could have mis-spellings and/ or should be used for “informational purposes only.” For this reason, such sites should be considered as supplemental or secondary sources only. Again, to protect individuals’ privacy, they may provide summarized information rather than information about specific individuals.

The upshot of which is simply that . . . (3) A criminal record search from such a source usually does not, in and of itself, comply with the Fair Credit Reporting Act regulations involving preemployment screening . . . see video below:

In the meantime, you can find a dozen or so lists of public and private record information companies on this website:

- Address and Telephone Numbers; other lists (provided on that same page) include information on the following topics:

- Aviation
- Bankruptcy
- Corporate/ Trade Name Data
- Credit Information
- Convicted Criminal Information
- Driver and/ or Vehicle
- Education/ Employment
- Environmental
- Foreign Country Information
- Genealogical Information
- Licenses/ Registrations/ Permits
- Litigation/ Judgments/ Tax Liens
- Military Service
- Patents
- Real Estate/ Assessors

Sometimes, the only way to conduct a reasonably certain background check online is from a reputable private vendor. A reputable online vendor may provide access to many records that might not be otherwise found online via Government online sources.

What Do Plumbers Do?

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Most people seem to think that plumbers fix faucets, clear clogged drains, fix toilets, and install plumbing fixtures. Or maybe that was what I thought 19 years ago before sitting down for an interview as an apprentice plumber. Lucky for me I got the job, but then my eyes were opened. The first week I learned about everything from plumbers putty to steam traps. Then we installed a faucet, toilet and even an 80 gallon natural gas water heater. I worked at this job for about a year and a half before looking for something more then just service plumbing.

I then got a job working as a commercial plumber. We did all of the plumbing for new construction commercial jobs like restaurants, areanas, dental offices, and even a school. In this time I learned so much about plumbing, gas fitting, and hot water heating that it was almost overwhelming.

About five years after this, and now a fully qualified journeyman plumber and gas fitter, I went into business for myself. Again my world was expanded. Not long after starting for myself I took on a couple of houses that required the plumbing and gas fitting to be installed. Residential plumbing is very much different from commercial plumbing. At first I made next to nothing, but I eventually got the hang of this type of plumbing and everything worked out fine.

Next was when high effiecient boilers came onto the market and I took on a couple of projects. I had worked with boilers before, but this was different. Not just because of the boiler, but because the installation was not normal. In fact as far as my heating wholesaler knew I was the first plumber in my city to do an installation like this one. Then another project came on and we did the same sort of installation, except now we removed the furnace and hooked up fan coil in its place. This became a very high energy effiecient system.

Then came along tankless water heaters. The type of tankless water heater that I installed required you to have a certification prior to buying and installing any of these. I got this new ticket and installed one system. I found these worked great for infloor heat but not so great for domestic water. Unless you have a smaller family or for use in a cabin. Otherwise you should install two or more of these units in series.

Still to this day I find I that the world of plumbing keeps expanding. I hope this article has helped you to see what plumbers do.

The Oldest Surviving Carpet in the World

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

The art of Persian Oriental rug weaving has been around for centuries. Carpet weaving is an essential part of Persian art and culture and dates back to ancient Persia. Over time this art underwent many changes, but the principles and level of quality remained the same.

Wool is the most common material used for carpets, but oftentimes silk would be used to weave these precious oriental rugs. Silk carpets date back to the sixteenth century of oriental carpet weaving. Silk is more expensive, and less durable, but the value does tend to increase with age.

Unfortunately, over the passage of time, materials such as wool, cotton and silk start to decay. This leaves hardly any remnants for archaeologists wanting to research the history of Persian rugs and carpets.

In a very beneficial archeological discovery in 1949, the oldest Persian carpet in the world was found. The carpet was found in the grave of a Scythian prince amongst the ices of the Pazyryk valley in Siberia. It is thought that perhaps the ice from the mountains preserved the carpet, which has been dated through radiocarbon testing as being woven in the 5th Century BC.

The Pazyryk carpet is 283 by 200cm in size and has 36 symmetrical knots per cm squared. This oriental carpet indicates a long history of evolution of this art, because of the advanced weaving technique that can be matched up to the technique of latter centuries. The Pazyryk carpet is considered to be the oldest carpet in the world.

Thimbles

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

The thimble, a small cylindrical shield that is placed over a finger, has been used for centuries in the practice of sewing. The dimples in its surface allow the thimble protects a craftsmans finger while pushing a needle through leather or fabric. A thimble is generally made out of strong metals, leather, or wood, although some older manufacturers used horns and ivory although some thimbles are made of softer materials.

The thimble has been around for centuries, the earliest being a bronze thimble discovered in Pompeii, dating around 100 CE, and a silver thimble found in China dating to the Han Dynasty, from 202 BCE - 220 CE. Early American thimbles were created primarily out of teeth and whale bone. Thimbles from early Russian times were not actually intended for sewing, but using in combat, either as weapons for grappling, or to protect an archers thumb from chafing on the bowstring. As these protective shields became more common, they found their way into the business of tradesmen. Today there is a large market for antique thimbles.

Prior to the 18th century, the dimples were hand punched, although as manufacturing grew, automated machinery allowed for the rapid casting and punching of thimbles. Over time, thimbles were made thinner and out of more malleable metals, such as silver. These metals were easily punctured, and the problem was solved by inserting a steel lining in the interior of the thimble. This style is widely used in the modern era, and is widely popular amongst collectors.

Thimble collectors, known as digitabulists, inspired the creation of many elaborately designed and ornate thimbles. Rare stones such as rubies or sapphires were cast into thimbles. Less expensive but still richly designed thimbles were created using the semi-precious stones agate or amber. As manufacturing techniques became refined, more requests poured in for engraving and personalization for thimbles.

Prices for thimbles range from several cents for modern plastics, to several hundred dollars for hand-crafted thimbles. Many thimble collectors have organized themselves into societies or community groups, sharing their hobby and collections with others. The thimble has gained other uses throughout their history.

Thimbles made from rubber or soft material, known as thimblettes, are used for grasping and searching through stacks of papers or documents. During the 19th century, thimbles were used to measure quantities of alcohol, from which the phrase just a thimbleful is derived. The thimble has developed over centuries from a crude instrument to an ornate valuable that are merited by sewers and collectors alike, due to a wide variety of materials and styles used in its creation.
